November Prevention Focus The Great American Smoke Out

The Great American Smoke Out takes place on November 19, 2009. On this day, people will be challenged to quit smoking for at least one day in hopes that they might quit for good.  Research tells us that smokers experience more success when they receive support.  With more than 43 million U.S. adult smokers, it is important to provide vital support to help individuals kick the habit.  To learn more about what you can do, click here.

Drug-Free Action Alliance is now accepting nominations for its

Enrique Camarena Award

Drug-Free Action Alliance established the Enrique Camarena Award in 1993 to recognize individuals who do an outstanding job in the field of alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention.  Enrique Camarena gave his life as a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent in an effort to limit the supply of drugs illegally entering the country.  His family and friends wore red ribbons to his memorial service in 1985 and thus started the National Red Ribbon Celebration that is now held every October 23- 31.  The red ribbon symbolizes a commitment to healthy drug-free lifestyles, no use of illegal drugs and no illegal use of legal drugs.  Click here to learn more. . .
