Know!
Know! empowers parents of 11- to 13-year-olds to raise children who are alcohol, tobacco and drug free. Since 2001, Know! Parent Tips have reached over 25,000 parents of middle school aged youth.
Know! is based on research citing parents as the biggest influence over the choices children make in regards to substance use. The goals of Know! are to:
Raise parental knowledge about substances and substance abuse,
-
Enhance awareness that their child is at risk, and
-
Increase the number of conversations that parents have with their children about substance abuse.
Twice per month, Know! delivers information directly to parents. Know! keeps abreast of the latest research, condensing it into easily digestible information for parents. Each Parent Tip explains the best way to use that particular tip—whether it’s monitoring what’s in the medicine cabinet to keep youth from abusing over-the-counter drugs, or asking their child what they know about inhalants then providing factual information. Parents can trust the information they receive from Know! because it is coming from a credible source of substance abuse prevention information.
